It is important to note that you do not require insurance specific education to connect to the majority of roles in the industry.  However, if you are thinking that you would like to focus your studies on insurance, there are a number of Canadian colleges and universities offering programs where insurance and risk management is embedded into the curriculum, both at the undergraduate and post-graduate certificate level.

Some roles require certification or a license (i.e. Actuary, Broker, Loss Adjusters working independently) with some variation between provinces. One of the best ways to connect to the industry is through networking. It is likely that you already know someone working in the industry. Find out who handles your home, tenant or vehicle policy? Is there someone at your current or previous employer who handles risk management or the insurance for the company?
