Help Us Tell the Industry’s Story!
The Career Connections program’s message is amplified by the authentic and unique stories of industry professionals, whom we call Ambassadors.
Ambassadors breathe life into the career possibilities the industry has to offer and make them real to those exploring the industry.
They provide a glimpse of what it looks and feels like to be a part of the insurance industry, offer pragmatic tips for success and invaluable insight to career seekers, and reflect the faces and values of the sector. We currently have nearly 400 industry professionals across Canada who give of their time as Ambassadors. And, we know that there are 126,000 more stories to tell – so additional voices of experience are needed to add to the Career Connections chorus.
Enter yourself as an HR leader and the Corporate Ambassador Program…
Why participate?
Engage – Have the opportunity to connect with potential candidates and present your brand to top insurance talent. Your team of trained Ambassadors will be available as representatives from the business to attend events and complement your own recruiting efforts.
Professionalism – Ambassadors offer their own perspectives on why they are proud to work in the insurance industry and what it is like to work at their organization. Your staff who volunteer with Career Connections provide the opportunity for a positive reflection of your employer brand.
Variety – Career Connections has a wide array of programming options - from virtual high school classroom presentations to Instagram Takeovers to judging case competitions to sitting on engaging industry panels - where we connect directly with our stakeholders. There is truly something for all personalities, skill sets, and roles within the industry.
Development & Social Responsibility – Through participation in the Corporate Ambassador Program, you have an opportunity to position being an Ambassador as a developmental opportunity, an option for Corporate Social Responsibility and Volunteerism (it is a tremendous way to give back to the industry) and tie into your overall talent management strategy for professionals at every level in the organization.
Commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) - It is critical that the Career Connections program’s ‘story tellers’ reflect the faces, values, and experience profiles of the industry’s workforce. As such, we need as broad a cross-section of the industry to participate as Ambassadors as possible. Career Connections is also a proud partner of events targeted to the BIPOC, API, LGBT2SQ+, Women in Leadership, Global Talent, Mental Health and Persons with a Disability communities. The Corporate Ambassador Program presents a wonderful vehicle to collaborate and tap into the work of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and other EDI initiatives across your organization.
Flexibility – Through participation in the Corporate Ambassador Program you are able to schedule training dates exclusively for your roster of potential Ambassadors (identified by your organization) on dates that suit your business needs. You are also welcome to invite your volunteers to join one of our open training sessions throughout the year.
What’s involved? Next Steps?
We ask potential Ambassadors to participate in a virtual training session, complete an Ambassador profile and to be prepared to participate in 2 – 4 events per year. This represents about 5 – 8 hours of annual commitment to the program.
As noted above, this can be achieved through a wide spectrum of volunteer opportunities and ways to support Career Connections programming.
If your organization is interested in participating in the Corporate Ambassador Program, please reach out to us at cconnections@insuranceinstitute.ca. Our program officer will be in touch to set up an initial planning meeting to walk through processes for potential Ambassador identification and recruitment, administrative details, and to finalize training dates.
